On Premature Termination of contract?

When dismissing a helper, with pay in leui of notice to be worked, is the best way to use cash, or can we do an immediate transfer of monies owed into her bank?as we would normally pay her wages that way, everything handed over will be witnessed.

As she still has some visa time left, can we still insist on an air ticket within a fortnight?

She will create a big fuss on dismissal as she has lots of relatives living/working here.

Reason-- we just returned from holiday, and my mothers day (UK) gift from my daughter, has vanished from on top of our filing cabinet, my husband and I searched every nook and cranny in the house yesterday while she was day off. Just before he returns from work this evening we are going to ask her to search for this with us, and see what excuse she will offer for the disapearance of this present, it is not the only thing which has gone missing, just the final straw for us, and she has already had a warning written at Christmas to improve her standard of work and honesty.

if you pay her cash, get her to sign a receipt - think there's a sample in the immigration website.

if i were you, i would get a proof of the thefts before you dismiss her. as you have mentioned that she will create a big fuss so better to cover yourself before doing anything further.
