FDH - Increase to Minimum Salary?

ORIGINAL POST

Hi Everyone,

I am in the process of employing a new DH.

Some of the DH's I have interviewed have told me that there is going to be an increase soon to the minimum wage.

Has anyone else heard this or am I being mislead by the DH's?

I have not heard of any proposed increase in the minimum wage, but I would say if you sign a new Dh on the minimum at present, then that is what they get payed, for the duration of the contract, it can always be increased if your dh performs well or as a bonus at Christmas or Chineses new year, depending on when you would normally give a bonus.

Have not heard of it.

If you can afford it, do pay more than minimum. Even a little makes a difference in motivation. Also, ensure you reward good performance with perks, raises and bonuses.

Heard from some helpers that the minimum wage will be increased to around 4,300. They said that there's a notice posted in their consulate. I have not confirmed this myself.

But regardless of anything else the helper cannot be misleading you because as already stated above until any increase comes into force then the current rate applies. If she told you that it had been increased already then she would be misleading you.

Thanks for the replies everyone.

The helpers I have interviewed are just saying that they are "expecting" an increase soon. They are not actually saying it is already in place.

I get the impression that some of the helpers I have interviewed are trying to delay signing a new contract until the new wages are published.

Technically the levy never disappeared. It was just waived for two years. So it is logical that it will be back.

i have just signed a new contract today and asked the agency who has said that it is only a rumour which is circulating around the DHs. I then decided to call the labour department who said to me that the minimum salary is $3580 and that there has been no notification that it will be increased.
