Hi,
I just arrived in Honk kong and I would like to hire a full time helper. I am not sure what exactly I should ask her during our interview as I never lived with someone who is not family..hard to imagine what I will be looking for because it is a new situation...
If you have some experience, please let me know what is important to ask/ to check/...
Thanks
Julie

Here's a good thread about that: http://hongkong.asiaxpat.com/forums/hong-kong-domestic-help/threads/123453/helper-interview-questions/
There's also a book called "Hiring and Managing Domestic Help" which contains the information you need.

Thank you very much axptguy38...
I think I spent half of the night reading everything about it.
In the thread, they are talking about a check list. Do you know if they have created one?

I don't know if that check list ever surfaced.
In general, try to find out something about her character. Is she smiling? Grumpy? Distracted? Does she avert her eyes? Does she mumble or speak clearly?
Ask questions that require some thought, like "I've suddenly decided to ask two couple to dinner at home. You have three hours to prepare dinner. What do you cook?" or "you're giving baby a bottle when suddenly three-year old cuts himself. What do you do?".
The most important thing is: Are you making a connection? Could you imagine living with this person? Is she giving you a pleasant feeling during the interview or is she getting on your nerves?

Yes you are right...making a connection is important.
Thank you very much for your advices, I will follow them!
