Hi,
I'm planning on bringing an Indonesian helper to Hong Kong. I got in touch with Rahaja Recruitment agency and they said I have two options:
A) I pay $3580 and helper has to pay $21000 to counterpart agency in Indonesia
B) I go for the Direct Hire option, which means I assume all the costs. This would cost me $12000 (excluding medical check up - $500 and insurance - $900 for two years).
Has anybody dealt with this agency before? Are they reliable? And does the costs sound reasonable to you? (we would opt for option B)
Thanks,
Ariadna

$21000 from the helper is just vicious. And even with option two I think you're paying way way too much. It is fair to pay mandatory charges like the above mentioned Employment Skill Certificate and consular fees, but 12500?!?
Compare to two other agencies:
- AsiaXpat charges the helper $150 (I think) and the employer a few thousand.
- ACJ charges the helper 10% of the first salary and the employer $3500
Insurance costs will be incurred regardless of nationality. $900 is a good deal.

Axptguy38,
Thanks for your reply. The fees you mention seem to be the ongoing fees for helpers who are already in HK. My maid is in Indonesia and has never worked in HK before. That said, you could still be right in assuming the fees they ask are way too high. I've never done this before, that's why I was asking for advice here.
