I received a letter from the immigration dept saying
"our records reval that your FDH ext of stay in HKG will soon expire. To allow him to work until the end of the employment contract, you are reminded to arrange for the helpers departure and entry to Hong Kong with the validity of the entry visa issue to her"
When we hired her her employer was leaving HKG and was informed she didnt have to return back...
can someone please advise - I'm expecting a baby in 2 weeks and don't really need this right now.
Thanks

I would contact Imm straight away (well Monday now!) to explain your situation, with the baby due etc,, and ask them if it would it suffice to send your helper in and out of Macau. At least if they say that is Ok then you will only loose her services for a couple of days. or maybe they can make an exception for you.
Good luck with everything and the baby too.

Curios, did you check with the actual employer that they were indeed leaving or did you just take the helper's word? Unfortunately one of our friends employed a helper who was terminated for poor performance/stealing/not getting along with the employer.....we're not sure but was told it was a financial termination (which is treated like an end of contract), and then had a similar letter from immigration with a stressed out maid who kept requesting time off to go to Macau to renew the visa. She ended up being terminated due to the untruths, leaving my GF with a toddler and a newborn but thankfully she still had her original maid and this was an addition. Yes, call immigration to clarify but get as much info as you can, and try and ask the helper what she thinks is going on before you speak to immigration so you can decide on what you want to do i.e plead for her or basically let her go! Goodluck.
