Is the employment contract considered finished if it was terminated by the employer 43 days before the end of it? Can she process another employment contract with a new employer without having to go back to her place of origin and await the working visa here in Hongkong? The reason for termination is that her service is no longer needed.

No, it is still Terminated. It would be considered Finished if the helper is terminated any time between 1-30 days before the end.
I wonder who would be so mean as to terminate the helper 43 days before the end of 2 years?

The employers were not happy when she refused to renew, so she was asked to leave the house just before the contract is finished. Is she entitled to a severance pay? She served just 43 days short of 4 years with them.

Would it make a difference if she was terminated at 43 days, meaning she gets 1 month in lieu (taking it to 13 days before the end of contract) (I'm asking as I don't know), would immigration look on this as a finished contract?
Also to the employers out there, if you wish your helpers to be honest with you and give you notice, so that you can make alternate arrangements, then do not behave as this employer has done. All this serves to do is to force helpers into a corner where they have to lie and pretend to renew and then leave you in the lurch at the last minute to ensure that they are able to find employment more easily.

If employer terminated the contract I certainly hope the DH got 1 month pay in lieu of notice! There are some really evil people out there....on both sides of the fence!
