Driver contract

Hi we are new to Hk and thus will hire a Phil driver. My friend said that her drivers are all under domestic helper contracts (green one), is that right?

2. Should we have a separate contract that states the requirements? (ie: hours, rules etc)

3. How much should be stated on the DH contract? I heard not the actual amount, rather, just the $3580 by law, but in actuality, one would pay more.

Any advice would help as we have absolutely no idea! Don't want to be taken advantage of by others just because we are new. Thanks so much!

1. Correct. A DH driver is technically a "Domestic Helper with Driving duties" so they have the standard DH contract. Plus see point 2.

2. There is a standard contract addendum for driving duties that you can pick up from immigration. You can state the conditions there.

3. State the minimum. You can always pay more.

Note 1: Most drivers make significantly more, upwards of 8000-10000.

Note 2: Drivers may not take the employer to work. They may only do "domestic driving", e.g. taking kids to school, groceries, excursions etc...

Thanks SO much axptguy38!

Do I get the green contract and the 'standard contract addendum' from the Immigration (ie Wan Chai)?

Thanks for your info really.

Yes you get them both from Immigration. At least that was the case 1½ years ago.
