Hiring DH without work visa

Hi all

I have recently secured a job in HK and have already got a flat lease. The problem is the company has not yet finished the visa application. I left here in 2009 after resigning from my previous position but still have my HKID (which I am still able to use at the airport) and a visa in my passport valid until Sept 1 2011. The question is, can I hire a live in DH before my visa comes through?

Grey area I guess. However since your visa is still valid you should be able to.

If you can show proof of address with your name on a utility bill and get a letter from your employer stating your income and proof of employment you can start to hire a helper. It will take 2 months anyway and your professional visa will probably be out by the time the helper's visa is ready. Then you can just who it to the IMD and they will accept that.
