We arranged for our helper to go for an annual check-up and has been recommended to get an ultrasound for her breast. The check-up was done with our private doctor as it is the same one my husband and I do and is very good. The ultrasound will be $1,500 because it's private. Does anyone know where she can get a breast check and ultrasound done in the public system? and the approx. cost?
We have helper insurance and I'm waiting to hear back from the insurance company if an ultrasound would be covered but I'm thinking unlikely.
Thanks

fyi - in case anyone finds themselves in a similar situation. The Family Planning Clinic in WanChai is the place to go. I got her an appointment at the clinic in Wan Chai the following day and she is going for an ultrasound this Friday. Funny enough, the ultrasound will done at the same place that she was referred to by our private practice but for half the price ($650). I have now also confirmed with our insurance company that ultrasounds, etc, would be covered but only if she was admitted in hospital.

Most of the private imaging lab in Hong Kong Island would charge about 700 to 1000 for ultrasound breast, and usually does not require doctor's referral unlikely other taking X-ray. If you visit private doctor such as Surgeon or GP to perform an ultrasound for you or your maid, much of the charge is consultation fee. I agree with mamainhk that FPC in WanChai is cheaper but the quality is a bit..... I usually send my employee to do ultrasound in nearby lab and allow them to claim the corporate insurance. Doing ultrasound in hospital is extraordinary expensive because you need referral, admission and consultation fee, and ends up in huge amount of expenditure that the insurance company could not allow you to do so.
