Inspiring worker needs a little help...

Hello. I am posting this on behalf of my neighbour's helper. I've posted about her here before. The helper is Indonesian and has been treated appallingly during the past 14 months. She has had one single day off in that time, and otherwise works 14 hours a day, every day of the week. She gets paid $2,200 a month. She has two young sons at home so although it's easy to say why doesn't she quit and get a new job, when doing so means they literally won't have food on the table, it's not such an easy decision.


Tonight she has passed me a note outlining that she is about to get terminated. I've heard this is common among the Indonesian helpers especially - they work while they are paying their agency half their measly "salary" for services rendered and as soon as their "debt" is paid off, are then terminated so the employer can start the money-making process again off a new helper. It makes me sick, and I want to do everything I can to help this wonderful lady get a new job.


Do you or anyone you know need a new helper, and are prepared to treat her with the minimum legal requirements re pay and days off?


She is fluent in Cantonese and obviously Bahasa but her English is quite basic.


She is extremely hard-working, always smiling and friendly - despite her wretched employer! - and clearly intelligent and full of initiative.


She is very good at gardening and I assume cooking; or at least, she seems to do a lot of it!


I believe, after living in a house attached to hers for the past 14 months, I can attest to her beautiful and indomitable character...and I really want to help her out here...if she gets terminated through no fault of her own, she'll have little chance of finding another job... the whole situation is a farce...
