New DH no show & problematic agent

I recently hired a DH direct from Indonesia through a local agent. I received a call today from the agent that my new DH is not coming because she is supposedly pregnant. I have no proof of course.


Can someone share their stories if they have come across a DH no show situtaion? What can you realistically do in this situation vis a vis the agent? My issue right now is that I am not happy with the way my application has been handled by the agent and I am now quite convinced that this agent will not act on my best interest.


Has anyone been able to ask for a refund from these maid agencies? I don't even know if I can trust my agent to find me another DH...

Hi Malibu817, It may have caused you inconvenience not getting this particular helper when you expected her, but better now to find out she is pregnant, if she had said nothing in the early stages, you would have been saddled with big bills for the medical care and delivery of the baby in Hk, plus you wouldn't have been able to dismiss her either while she is pregnant. I'd say you had a lucky escape there.

As far as the agency is concerned, have you asked them if they are going to supply another Indonesian helper in her place?, this may take them a little longer as they'll have to re process. I can't answer the question about refunds as I haven't had that experience, but I would go back to the agency and ask them how long it will take to process a new helper to meet your requirements, which I should imagine will be some weeks as they'll have to start all over again.
