Helper for a month then Canada?

Can you hire a helper for a month to live in? I'm coming to hk on Tuesday with my very busy 2 year old. He has a lot of difficulty sleeping so I'm up with him 2-4 times a night but full of energy in the morning. I'd love to find a live in for one month and if we like her take her to Canada to help me. My father and mother are both sick and I want to take care of tem so it would e great to have dh with us to help with my son.

I guess this is a 2 part question is it legal to hire a maid for one month in hong kong? And has anyone taken a maid to Canada I'd love to ave some advice? Thanks so much

You can hire overnight help for a month legally in HK but they are usually used by ladies who have just given birth. Many of these ladies (all local Chinese) do also work with older children. They cost around 20,000HKD per month. They will probably not want to return to Canada with you.


In terms of hiring a phillipino to return with you to Canada, it may be just best to interview some here through an agency that would be happy to migrate to Canada with you, and then get the ball rolling ect, although as Cara pointed out it takes 8 months+.


For you to be able to to hire a phillipino illegally (as you are not a resident you won't be able to sign a contract with them) for 1 month you'd probably be hiring the ones with terminated contracts and usually but not always there's some problem with them, thieving, lying, laziness ect. So if you have a problem with them (i.e. they steal from you) you won't have a legal leg to stand on i.e. can't report the matter to the police.


Moreover, from the sounds of it, you really need a star helper, if she's needed to manage one active young boy, two elderly folks with medical illness and domestic duties. Unlikely to be found with terminated contract helpers who are floating about (not impossible but highly unlikely).

Thans fir the advse my travel agent here in Vietnam said e could get a travel as in 10-30 days and I know someone who niece wants to Coe with me. I didn't know it was so much trouble in hong kong
