Helper holiday

Hi, we're considering an overseas holiday for 2 weeks but don't want to leave our helper at home. She has only been with us for 4 months. If she is to return to the Philippines for the duration is there any paperwork involved? Other than the cost of her return air fare, would we also have to consider insurance?

Grateful for any advice!

It's not as simple as it seems...

(1) Sometimes helpers don't want to go back home as it's expensive for them. It's not just the airfare. It's the daily expense and gifts (it seems that giftgiving is part of their culture).

(2) Some rent a bed-space (from 25-50/day) here in HK instead of going back home.

(3) If the helpers goes back home, there's that document that they get from their consulate that the employer need to pay. Can't remember what it was, and how much. No need for insurance, they're already covered by the new insurance required by the PI gov't.

Hope that helps.

You pay all the cost coz you are the one who wants her out of your house while your away. shes just 4 months. So im very sure she doesnt want to go home yet. Ask her if she have some friends with boarding house. now is 50 per day. Plus give her food allowance.
