Does anyone have experience of hiring a helper who is already working outside of HK?
We would like to hire a helper who is currently working in Doha. She says that she would like to come direct to HK when her contract finishes in mid Dec.
Does anyone know if this would be considered 'direct hire' and if so, would she ahve to go back to manila first? Or is there some other way of doing it?

You can bring her using the same process as if you were hiring outside of HK.
You need to get the 4 copies of the contracts signed plus supporting documents as required (listed in the website of HK Govt) and next pass through the relevant consulate , followed by submission to Immigration, collect the visa, send it to her and book the flight.
You will need to use an agency if she is a Filipino, b/c they won't allow an individual to process this type of visa. If you use an agency they will do all of this for you.
You need to provide proof of address, income and copy of HKID or passport with visa to live here. Straightforward, expect about 2 months to process.
