Airfare - most direct route obligation?

Hi,

Just a question...

Upon termination of a contract, are we obliged to purchase a direct route airfare for the helper or is a stopover allowed? Stopover to Surabaya costs half of what it costs to fly directly via Cathay.

My MIL is terminating hers and I'm caught between two interests so I need to do whatever the law needs me to do.

Thanks.

What is required is a return ticket to her place of origin. It doesn't matter if it's a direct flight or with a stopover (as long as you pay up to the destination not just the stopover point).
