I was wondering if there is any objective background checks available. Like equivalent of credit/criminal check? I know you can contact former employers, but of course that's only one side. I found a site called apaintedpath.com but no idea if it is legitimate or works.

I've seen this background screening company, A Painted Path, raised and discussed on a few forums and seems quite a few HK moms use them for a peace of mind when hiring helpers. Website and services looks legit. I would try them out the next time I need to hire a helper.
