The recent report that says HK is a place that allows trafficking has been met with strong responses from Legco and other politicians. They feel our Labour laws are strong enough to cover the abuses of domestic helpers. However, there are instances of trafficking that seem to pop up over and over now, The numbers of wealthy mainlanders who hire a DH and subsequently take them across the border to live and work is increasing. The contract addresses are not honored, rather the employer is allowed to take the DH under the guise of a holiday. Once across the border, the DH is then told to clean a huge house, work for another family, work in a factory or heaven only knows what else.
The mainland employer can refuse to give the DH an air ticket home if she says she wants to leave and thus she will overstay her visitor visa and go to jail or be at the mercy of the employer and hope to get a chance to return home. This is trafficking
Once they are across the border, it seems the employer can act with total disregard for the law. It doesn't matter how strong the Labour laws are in HK. The mainland authorities will not help they will arrest the DH who has done nothing wrong.
This is trafficking.....
The HK Government needs to wake up and send a strong and clear message this type of behaviour will not be tolerated.

So, don't cross the border. Be what is told / written to be , on the employment contract.
Thanks for the info.
