My recollection was that someone asked for a recommendation for a helper to hire. We dont allow that on here because we have a full on DH channel with hundreds of helpers iwht references - if somone has a helper to recommend that would be the place to do it

Well but geiboyi is especially looking for sri lankan helpers! How many are there in your website, I wonder. But rules are rules. I think geiboyi has to source somewhere else for what he wants.

Thanks - I did look at the helpers on the site, but from past experience I know that a written reference is not entirely reliable, and in most cases the contact number given is a mobile number which I assume is the helper's number. I was hoping to hear directly from employers. There are relatively few Sri Lankan helpers which is what we are looking for, for language reasons.

another wee point Ed..... your helper site is not very user friendly.

If I want to search by nationality, age, experience, with references, available when etc..

well, the layout at present means I simply "CANNOT"...

But age, nationality and sex are perfectly reasonable things to be concerned about when you're employing someone to live in your house and take care of your children, aren't they?

Fine - but frankly, I don't want a man in the house (an employee, not family or friend, remember) when I've got my boobs out feeding the baby, or in the morning before I'm properly dressed, so however many I interview I'm not going to hire one. I don't want someone looking after my child who is very young and inexperienced or very old and with problems keeping up with a young child. I want someone who speaks Sinhalese, and I can't imagine a Filipino or Thai doing that. I could interview in a non-discriminatory way but I would be wasting people's time. What would the point be?

Of course a job at home is completely different.
