Hi - any help gladly received.
I need to organise a helper bed for our tiny Bel-air on the Peak maid room - have spent a frustrating day traipsing round Wanchai in the rain.
Seahorse told me they no longer custom make and had nothing small enough. Jaderatten quoted me $4K which seemed more expensive than I was expecting.
I wanted to get a basic loft bed with wardrobe and/or desk underneath or at least a bed with drawers/storage - but must be only about 63 inches long, 35 inches wide.
Does anyone have any ideas where I can buy something like this - new or secondhand - or have it made?

Sorry to hear about your Wan Chai trek. That's not really the place to get this stuff IMHO.
- Pricerite has a complete unit with loft bed, desk and wardrobe underneath. It is about 4500 Honkies but very solid.
- Modern House on Java Road in North Point has a bed with drawers. The narrow model you need they will order from their catalog but delivery is fast. We got this and then hung wall wardrobes from IKEA on the wall above the bed.
- Any number of stores on Java Road will make custom furniture in 10-14 days.

You could try Po Wah Furniture, ground floor, 18A Aberdeen Street, Central, hk. They tailor make too like stores on Java Road. We haven't tried them so can't say anything about quality or service. By the way we don't make beds but offer short term rental on hk island.

63 inches long - wow, that's small even by HK standards. what is up with building companies these days?! in case you haven't hired her already, this means you would need to get a helper not much taller than 5ft...

We have the same size room you do for our helper. We got our beds, custom made, with three beds for HID$4100 at Jade Furniture in Wan Chai. It may be cheaper if you are only getting one bed. Good luck!

Agree - 63 ins is outrageous - if these rooms are really designed as bedrooms and not storerooms, then HK is truly an inhumane society. I wouldn't have my cat sleep in a room that small.

To mchew: you mentioned Jade Furniture in Wanchai. Is it still there? We had furniture made there a few yrs ago, but when I looked for it last year I could not find it. Did it move? Do you have the exact address or phone number? Thanks!

I'd be interested in Jade Furnitures address too! Need to get a heler's bed made only 68cm x 168cm! Crazy!! Stupid funny shaped room!
