Maid in Lebanon abuse video kills herself

This particular case is horrendous, and I hope it isn't too common. We had arab friends living in Lebanon they had live in Indian maids, who were very happy and well treated.

We also spent some time in Kuwait, before the present middle east troubles, we had a serviced appt. Two Sri Lankan maids used to come in every day, they were employed by the arab owner of the service appt.

One day, I heard a loud 'thump' in our bedroom, whilst the maids were making our bed, I found one of the ladies on the floor having a grand mal epileptic fit, I told the other maid to get the manager to call an ambulance. She said NO, he will only sack my friend if he finds out she is epileptic, and she refused to go and fetch him.

I stayed with the lady having a fit, and turned her into the recovery position, when she immediately had more fits, one after the other. In the end I ran down the corridor to summon help, and the manager sent for the ambulance straight away.

Two weeks later I saw the lady who had the fit, back working, very happy, she had been in hospital for over a week, getting stabilised on the correct medication for her epilepsy, and felt so much better, all at the expense of her kind boss, and she hadn't lost her job as feared. Let us hope there are more kind employers out there in the middle east who care rather than abuse their maids.
