How do I process papers for a new DH?

I've found the helper (after interviewing about 30 girls!) who will be finishing her contract shortly. Can someone please clarify what now needs to be done when we sign the contract? She will go back to the Phillipines until she starts with us (after getting the visa? or can they process it from the phillipines?) last time I vaguely remember handing off all my details of bank statements etc to my then soon-to-be helper (who, is long gone now) and she organised it herself. I didn't really like giving her all my stuff though to be honest, like all my bank details and income stuff. Anyone done this and can elaborate on the process please? thank you

hi mixeymum,

For helpers who are finishing their contracts, they can stay in HK to process their visa. If you want to keep your confidential stuff such as bank statements or income proof, I would advise you to use an agency to assist you with the visa processing. You may contact Evelyn Reyes at asiaxpat office and she can help you to handle the whole process.

Your new helper can process the documents.

In order to keep your personal information confidential (bank statements, utility bill and the Immigration form with salary details) then put it in an envelope, sealed, signed across the seal and sellotaped. Address it to Director of Immigration and give it to the helper to hand over with the other documents.

The Immigration Department will not only seal up your documents for the return (after they have copied them) they will warn the helper that if she tampers with the envelope she will be in trouble. The Immigration dept take the confidentiality of your docs seriously and impresses the same on the helpers.

And frankly if she cannot supply you that confidentiality on hiring, you don't want her anyway.

Thank you so much for your help. I actually was going to go through an agency to do the paperwork, but then I was told that the helper is the one who has to submit all these forms regardless, so in fact if you use an agency you just pay for nothing really. The helper will still see all the details etc, so I just did as suggested (thanks Sputio) and put them sealed in the envelope with private & confidential and sealed it. So for anyone reading this for future reference, just get the helper to do it and save your dosh rather than use an agency!
