What to do

I have just taken my family to have flu jabs. I told a friend and she wants to do the same including the helper. The problem is that the helper does not want an injection. My friend explained that its just a precaution for the whole family. She knows you can't force her to have it but any ideas on how to encourage her to have it done. My friend was paying for it so money is not the problem.

You should not push someone into doing somthing that they don't want to do. Especially as an employer. It was nice of you to make the offer, the challenge now is for you to accept her decision.

Baby04 it was not me who wanted to get the helper to get a vacine but my friend I dont have one. But it turns out that she was scared to get any injection and my friend got together with anouther family who have two helpers and they all went and got it together.

I think it's important to remember that if you have someone who is a helping with your family that it good to try and take care of them as well.I know some helpers are upset as the family they work for did the family but left them out!!!

Makes me wonder...why then does my company requests all its employees to have the flu jab & even offer it for free. Mind you, we all are very healthy adults.

Well, maybe my company is not being ' rational' even though it s one of the biggest & most recognized companies in the world today!

Shropshiregirl,

People with low immune systems are normally advised to have the flu jab.

However, many GP's advise people to have it in general as prevention is better than cure.

Most DH's are impressed and happy to have the flu jab ( when requested by their employers)as it protects them from getting the flu from others.

Your friend cannot force her DH to have the jab, but she should sit her down & tell her that if she falls ill then it is highly likely that the kids will get the flu from her & that is something your friend does not want.
