Did u give a guide to your DH?

My DH will be starting soon. Should I write down some "rules"? What about a list of daily/weekly/monthly chores? What about a list of groceries we like and recipes? Is that what people normally do? Is there any type of template that exists anywhere? I could use some ideas...

Green,

I'd like to see one too if you wouldn't mind sending it to me? That would be really helpful, thanks.

I keep a folder in the kitchen with those clear plastic sleeves, so I can just add a recipe or intructions for something when ever it comes up. I have a monthly, weekly and daily task list, and other things like kids lunches and afternoon snacks, kids schedules, manufacturers cleaning instructions for some appliances, phone numbers etc. I always feel quite uncomfortable giving instructions, and never do it properly so it suits me to have it written down too.

As you want your house to run the way you would want it, you should give her proper detailed instructions about everything. Dont take it for granted that she will know, beacause even if she does know everything, she wont know your way...she will learn from you.

I realised you have to be very precise & detailed about ever single thing. That leaves out room for misunderstandings. Tell her what type of cleaning products to be used & on what equipments too.

Show her by doing things yourself( eg. show her how much soap powder & conditioner you put in your washing machine, which compartments/ drawers), so that she follows suit. It all looks very minor, but it will lead to less mistakes.

Tell her to ask before she does anything she is unsure of.

Where the groceries are concerned, take her whenever you go for a while. Show her what you like & eventually ask her to do the shopping with you present, then you will be able to chech how it goes. It takes patience & good training, but eventually with your help, she will get it right...HOPEFULLY....All the best :)

I've sent some of you my copy - was planning on being helpful and sending it to all of you, but seem to have got banned for sending too many messages! Let me know if you didn't receive it and I'll send it tomorrow if I can.
