Weird thing to ask of your kids. They will love her or not regardless of what we tell them. Kids don't ration love the way some adults seem to think. They can love the helper and their parents.

Also as you say, "just a helper" is terribly disrespectful. Our helper is a respected member of the household. Our kids are required to treat her with respect, as are we. The fact that she is much loved by them is entirely due to her being an extraordinary human being.

I don't know whether it puts the kids in danger, but I agree with the essence of what you are saying.

hmm.. actually my mate heard her boss say that to the kids as she was standing less that 2 feet away..

when i say it puts kids in danger, its because the kids sometimes refuse to follow her cpz mummy said she is a helper...

and yes as a result the kids treat my mate as they should ie with respect when mum isnt there but when she is its a different story.. they have tantrums etc..

it hurts to hear people say that...

"i did explain to my son that the love that we have for each other and the love that we have for our helper is different, though. that we love each other so much because we are a family. but our helper is like one of his best friends, so that is a little bit different kind of love."

Very well said.
