Planning to renew my helper's contract, which expires mid-November.
I understand that she will have to fill in some forms from the Philippines Embassy and also a form with the HK Immigration.
Called HK Immigration and they said that I can only submit the application at the earliest 28 October. Problem is that I will be away during this period for two weeks and I want to use this opportunity to have my helper take her leave and go back to the Philippines.
According to Immigration, if she goes before her contract is renewed, she will have to exit Hong Kong in a year's time and redo the visa process. If she leaves after the contract is renewed, then the visa is for 2 years straight - no hassles.
I don't really understand this procedure - does it mean that she can just exit HK and go to Macau or does she have to go back to the Philippines and we have to do all the paperwork in a year's time.
Thanks!

My friend told me that the right procedure is for them to go home for holiday before you renew her... but if the helper doesn't want that and you need her help, then she can renew and get one year Visa. Once that year is up, she can go to China or Macau to get another year's Visa. Not sure if this is being naughty.

Sorry, I meant renew her and then let her go home for 2 weeks. If she stays and would rather have that 2 weeks $, then pay her and renew her to get the one year's visa. One Year later, she can go to Macau or China. Again, this might be naughty, hee hee.

Thanks for the advice!
One more thing. In the green Employment Contract that I'm filling in (instead of an agency), can anyone be a witness? I think we need two witnesses one for employer, one for employee! Any help is much appreciated!
