My husband and I have just moved to HK and I will be delivering my first baby in January. Seeing we have no family to support us out we've decided to employ someone but are a little trepidous as we've never had a helper, letalone a cleaner. I've got a number of interviews lined up from today and would greatly appreciate it if others would share their interview question list/DH interview advice with us.
Much appreciated

Chappell, most of the questions asked will be based on your expectations of her. as you are expecting soon, you probably will ask if she has experience taking care of newborn, if yes, how long. also, you may asked if she can cook chinese/western food based on your nationality. next, if you are really really cautious, asked for reference from previous employers and call them up to ask about her job performance. do not hire one without a reference letter and without speaking to the previous employer. many a time the DH will lie about their reason for leaving the previous employer and only way for you to find out is to call them personally. friend of mine interviewed a helper who claimed that she is excellent with kids, but when she called up the previous employer, the truth is that she is good with kids but not so good with newborn and younger babies. so beware.

Thanks for the sound advice mother 2005. We've found ourselves a helper whom we feel is a good and honest person with excellent verbal references from the past 8 years. I think we've done well and our helper seems very very happy too. Evelyn from asia expat agency has been brilliant too!! Thanks again
