Hi Everyone.

We had a new born baby. Me and my husband both have jobs. My maternity leave will be over soon. I Dont want to hire a full time maid. I want a part time maid who will take care of the baby from 9 to 6. Can anyone advice on how to find one. What is the process. Does the maid has to stay at my place (no problem if). What will be the charges. Where to find and how long will it take to hire one. DH wont have to do any other work but keep good care of my baby

Regards

Vicky

if you are happy with her to stay in your flat - thats full time helper. Long story short - part-time helper will be way more expensive than full time (if you do it legally) - not worth it. and on top of that you will have to worry about baby-sitting whenever you want to go out... so if you want sometone 9-6 - i really would say that full time helper is the only way..

yeah, 9-6 is a full time spread of hours. Hire a live in for conveniences sake.

You'll probably save money with a live in given the hours, and you can have her baby sit some evenings as well.

Why don't you hire a nanny? They are live-out and legal. They cost approx HKD 16 - 20,000 per month, will work the hours you've described, are more trained and should look after your baby to a higher standard. On the other hand, they won't do any housework for you ...

If you do want to look at the nanny option, try Annerley Midwives webpage.

wow, 16-20,000 per month, i m sure must be a well qualified and good one. But from what Vick described, she can easily get a full time DH. It is a bit of luck but good ones are really good at only @4,000 per month.
