Just want to do the right thing. If a helper is due eg 14 days leave, does this include the Sundays and any public holidays which fall in the 14 days ? Or she gets the 14 days plus the extra days ie the Sundays and public holidays and I pay for that as well ?

Thanks

She gets 14 days plus Sundays and statutory (not public) holidays. And yes you pay for that as well.

BTW just to be clear only helpers who have worked 15 years or more get 14 days of annual leave accrued per year. From 0-2 years of service gives 7 days per year, and then it goes up.

Thanks,axptguy38.

I have a printout that says 9 years and above gets 14 days.

You are correct. My mistake. I had a brainfart. It is 14 days from 9 years of service.

This PDF from the Labour Department explains it all http://www.labour.gov.hk/eng/public/wcp/FDHguide.pdf . Specifically, annual leave days are spelled out in Q4.9

Delightful. In order to accrue 14 days leave she has to have worked the 9 years for you. It isn't cumulative years working in Hong Kong. From your post it just sounded like you were new to this, which made me think she hasn't been working for you for 9 years!

spurtio,

Thank you for your imput.Appreciate that.My helper has been with me for more than 9 years.I've always been very generous with her leave. She has been given paid one month leave whenever she goes home so I've really not bothered to find out what's right.

Apologies. Just seemed odd that you were re-affirming the rules after so long! :-)
