Mimie - I want to hire two maids.

Do yours both live in?

Are they related?

How did you find them?

Do they get along?

Any tips and advice on this?

yes both of them live in. They share a room with bunk bed. They were hired sepaerately. I prefer 2 maids without any relationship cause from my experience if they get too close or friendly, they will keep talking and chatting or assisting the others to cover up mistakes or laziness..

Also, a friend of mine has one Philipinno and one Indonesian helper. It works perfectly for my friend.

Really? I always thought that it was better to have them be family?

What if they don't get along?

The 'current' minimum wage applies only to new contracts signed after the effective date of the increase, so the old amount of $3260 (assuming that was the amount on the contract) would still apply until the end of that contract 2-year period.

crj--My friend says that having different nationalities is better, because if the first one does something wrong, another one will always mention that to the employer. Therefore, both do their best not to get in trouble. If you have members of one family they will cover up each other's deeds. At least, that's what my friend told me.

Hi Crj, I have two helpers. From my experience there are pros and cons in every situation. When I first had two helpers I had re-hired a previous maid but the two did not get along and I found myself trying to make peace between them all the time. Then I decided to hire a friend of one of the helpers, but the friend turned out to be terrible at everything and lied a lot (of course current helper knew about the lies). I realised the reason why she was recommended was because my current helper could "control" her. Anyway, finally I ended up with the niece of my current helper. It is not the ideal situation, but at least they get along and it is peaceful. It is true that they cover up for each other and the aunt is very very lazy now. Basically the niece ended up being the assistant to the aunt and I am not much better off with two maids. The other problem is when you hire relatives and one isn't good, it is difficult to fire that one as both will have to go. Next time around, I will probably not hire relatives. I guess it really depends on your luck.

Janey - thanks so much for the post - sounds like there is no 'perfect formula' to hiring two helpers!
