Our driver needs to renew his licence soon. Who must pay for the renewal fee: him or us?

Well if you employ him to be a driver then it goes without saying, you. Similar to companies who send their expat employees to China regularly are morally responsible for visa's and passport renewals.

The other side of that is if you wish to work as a driver you need to have a drivers license as part of the tools of the trade. you can't actually do your job without it so to me to even consider such a job you would come with a full clean drivers license.

If a local driver then yes down to the driver. If a DH working as a driver (which I assume as this is the DH section) then has to be employer. Remember permission needs to be given by immigration for someone to drive after they have their DH visa. Therefore that is a burden on the employer.

There have been many questions about hiring a driver rather than a DH on this forum so i wouldn't assume it was a DH who drove. I thought from the question the person actually had employed a driver rather than a DH hence our driver not our DH.

Perhaps the poster can clarify this for us so we can better answer the question posted.
