I have just arrived in Hong Kong and am looking for a nanny to look after my son once he finishes school until I finish work. I dont really want a live in nanny, but have been told it is cheaper to get a full time live in than a part time live out nanny. There is no housework or cooking to be done, just play with my child.
Any suggestions?

post an ad at the labour department website, you will find residents there who applies for this kind of job. better play safe....a lot of applicants here are helpers who have contract from other employers and its illegal to hire them.

I have just found a part-time nanny through Annerley Midwives. The nanny is a fluent English speaker, although French is her first language because she comes from France. She is fully qualified, very experienced and she does 3 afternoons per week for me.
I would advise you to look for a nanny well in advance. It took me about a month to find someone. I also contacted Rent-a-mum but they were not able to find anybody to help me. The agency lady (Shirley) was friendly though.
Rent-a-mum only hires native English speaking nannies, Annerley Midwives provides nannies and maternity nurses and although they speak English well, they might not be native English speakers, just like the lady who is helping me.
I pay $180 per hour + the agency fee. I believe the standard of care is higher than that a FDH would provide, and it should be as the nannies have formal qualifications in childcare whereas most DH don't.
