Fired the DH

On 31 January 2006, my DH suddenly told me that Sir gave her some medicine on last Friday night. I asked her what medicine it was. She said that she throw them into the rubbish bin. I asked her what medicine it was which she asked from a pharmacy that the pills were sleeping drugs. I said how I could know you told the truth. She suddenly got out two blue pills from her plastic drawer and wrapped by a kitchen paper. The DH was midwife in her country. I asked my husband immediately did he gave her some medicine; he said he just gave her panadol not the pills she had.


I asked the DH to call up the police to investigate the case for her because if Sir gave her the pills. It should have some fingerprint on the pills. Then she said Sir took the pills from a bottle with a plastic bag. She asked me to search for this plastic bag found Sir’s suitcase and could not found what she said. I asked the DH to go with me to the pharmacy where she asked for to verify it, she said she went a Central and refused to go immediately. She could not remember what and when she went to the pharmacy just on 28/1/06. She told me within five minutes that the pharmacy did not think so what the pills was and the pharmacy was not in Central after half hour. She did not want to call the police until we found the bottle of pills. The DH lied again.


So no result on that night, I searched every corner in the house, no findings. I asked her what she wanted me to do. She did not answer any questions with a long face. I was upset for the DH whom the performance was really below the standard and long face all over the day.


After discussion with my husband, we thought it was not safe for the girl worked for us anymore. We brought her to the agency and give her a termination letter. We did not give her a month salary instead a month notice. She refused to sign the acknowledgement and asked why. After the agency explained to DH, whether she accepted or not, they could be a witness for the letter. The agency felt that the DH set up a trap and wanted to leave HK.


She changed her long face after she knew that she can leave HK….. how horrible for the DH…I did not where I can find a good one.

I just want to express my emoition. I don't know why the DH do this kind of things

John 1364, in short I think this is that torenia22 is saying that the DH tried to tell her that her husband gave her some sleeping pills to be able to take advantage of her, and perhaps to be able to get some money out of her employers, but when toerinia22 questioned this further and went to all lengths to see that this was either the truth or not, the maid folded, and then was sacked for her lies.....


If my interpretation is correct, then it is a really awful thing to do, and westeners if they did this in their own countries would possibly face a jail sentence depending on the consequences.


I agree if a DH is going to these lengths to lie then she is not on the least reliable to understate it mildly....


I must admit since living with a Philipina who constantly lied to me and cheated me and stillowes me money, I may have a bias, but I do understand that that some cultures do lie, and place different emphasis on it than westerners do.

Baoyusi, Totally agree for what you stated. I talked with DH's sister who was also worked in HK. She told me that my DH did not went to any Pharmacy to check the medicine. She requested me to give my DH a chance no matter to change the reason of termiantion or let her stay with us. Yesterday when we arrived home, DH had a long and black face again. A chance was offered by us me to her to change the reason of the termiantion notice but she refused to answer any question at all. So, We did not have any alternative to change our mind.


Anyway, I hope I can find the next DH will be better.

baoyusi, thank you, I also had no idea what torenia22 was saying, perhaps because the scenario just seems so outrageous. I am amazed at your ability to read between the lines!

Actually I dont understand the whole story!Good analysis baoyusi.But still cant see the point.By the way,torenia if you fired your helper you should know your responsibility according to the contract you sign in.
