Ching Ming Festival, 5 April is the only Statutory Holiday and thus the only mandatory day off (apart from weekly rest of course).

Many employers also give one or more of the General Holidays: Good Friday, the day following Good Friday and the day following Ching Ming Festival.

I thought the helpers also have 5 days holiday. So, technically 2nd,3rd, 5th of april is not a holiday. Am i right on that? Also, do you have to pay extra if they work on the above mentioned days? I am confused now.

If I am not mistaken, I think labour holiday for the FDH only confined to Tuesday (6th April). Easter Holidays (2nd, 3rd & 5th) are public holidays for offices. Sunday the 4th is of course a holiday for all.

Helpers do not have 5 days off unless you choose to give them all the days off. Also you both got the dates a bit mixed up.

To clarify:

- 2nd, 3rd and 6th are General Holidays, not Statutory, meaning you do not have to give helpers (or other employees) the day off.

- The 5th is a Statutory Holiday (and a General one), meaning you must give helpers the day off.

- Sunday is off as usual unless you give another weekday off as helper's rest day.

You do not have to pay helpers extra to work on General Holidays which are not Statutory. However, many employers give their helpers one or more of those days off or pay them extra to work. This is entirely at the employer's discretion.

You can review the dates at the websites I linked above.
