Hi,
Both I and my husband are still students here and have a baby of 14 months. My husband is finishing his studies and already found a job and applied for working visa. Is it possible to hire a maid to take care of my baby without signing a contract until all visa processing things complete? If so do you have any idea how to find such a maid?

Assuming that she's a foreign domestic helper then technically it's illegal for her to work for you without a proper contract. There's always the illegal option of getting those FDHs who take PT positions, but whether you want to risk your baby to such an unknown is another matter. Other options would be a local resident that you could source through the Labour Dept database. Or you could try placing an ad on the notice board at your local Wellcome or PnS supermarket. I 'll try placing an ad on those notice boards. Thanks for the information about labour department database. You are right, I shouldn't risk my baby with illegal FDH. Somehow I want to find a solution before my parents leave at the end of August. Thanks again.
