My wife and I finally decided that we were going to hire a helper. We did not want to deal with an Agency the ripped helpers off and AsiaXPAT does not charge helpers anything.
At the very top of the database listing all the helpers is:
"If you require domestic helper agency services please contact Evelyn Reyes in the AsiaXPAT office on 2815 2520. She charges employers only HKD2000 and domestic helpers pay nothing."
My wife and I pay the $200 to have access to the contact details of the helpers to set up interviews under the impression that when we find a maid we can pay the $2,000 to AsiaXpat for the Agency and paperwork services.
Upon selecting a maid and calling AsiaXpat we are told that they do not provide Agency services for all the maids in the database only those that have finished contracts but not those who have had their contract broken or broken their contract.
My logical question was why post people in your database that you will not completel the agency services for. The answer I got was AsiaXpat charges maids to advertise so they are happy to advertise people even if they can not process them and that I can go to another agency if this does not work for me.
My questions is either why have an Agency at all or why allow people to advertise with your Agency that you have no ability to actually help? Or have a disclaimer up front saying which maids the Agency will process.
I feel the my wife and I have been wasting our time interviewing people that we can not sign unless we want to process the immigration papers for the maid ourselves (and we are far too busy to have time to figure all that out).

I am out of town so unable to discuss this with Evelyn (who I might ad is extremely competent so I am quite sure there is something getting lost in an explanation) - but I will have our HK management look into this and reply further.
But to clarify our fees, there is a HKD200 membership fee which allows you to view the telephone number of each of the helpers who advertise with us. You can contact the helpers and avoid agency fees altogether if you process the helpers papers yourself (in most instances the helpers themselves know how to do this so you do little more than sign off).
The HKD2000 fee is for those in our audience who do not want to contact helpers directly but instead prefer to provide Evelyn with their requirements and have her recommend helpers. Her team deal with every helper who signs with us and they have a very good idea which ones are the best. The fee also includes the processing of the contract of the helper hired.
Generally if people hire direct Evelyn would not get involved with processing, however, and I am not sure the details as I don't micromanage this stuff) she may have some arrangement to assist those who don't require full agency services and may only need assistance with processing.

This from Evelyn - as you can see she cannot process in certain circumstances.
Hi John, Paul,
Please note that we can only assist with the visa processing under the following circumstances:
If the helper’s contract is completed.
If the helper’s contract is prematurely terminated due to employer’s relocation or leaving Hong Kong for good.
If the helper’s contract is prematurely terminated due to employer’s financial difficulties
If the helper’s contract is prematurely terminated due to employer’s death.
For any other reason of contract termination that doesn’t fall into these circumstances, the immigration will advise the helper to go back to their place of origin. One reason , why we can’t assist is we don’t have our accredited partner in Philippines who will handle the Philippine’s side of processing.
Please feel free to discuss with me if you have other questions.
Thanks,
Evelyn Reyes

Yes it seems that someone is trying to make some money by moving the people that are currently available. Does not see m fair to both us expats that are looking and certainly ot takes advantage of the poor domestic helpers. I tried to post an ad here to recomend someone and it seems it got deleted. I followed the rules with no nmaes and no conatct info. My recomendation was for a good helper that worked for me. But I guess someone here thought it might cut them out of a commission.
