helper resignation

My helper has given me notice and will be leaving us in one week. As she has resigned do i still have to give her an air ticket or the money for a ticket.

Thanks for any advice i'm not sure what i need to do

She should've given you a one MONTH notice; otherwise she has to pay you one month salary in lieu. She gave you a one week notice. As an employer you do have to pay for her return home. However, in given circumstances I'd not require 3 weeks pay but instead would not give her money for the ticket. Of course, you should record everything on paper and have her sign it.

Yes, she by law is required to give you at one month notice if she resigns. Same as you giving one month notice for termination. Either party must pay the other if the one month period is not met. Plane ticket unfortunately I think is manditory but again can be deducted from any of the say 3 weeks pay she owes you?

Technically the responsibility for the trip home includes not just the air fare but the cost of getting from your place to the airport and from the airport in her own country to her home. Not sure, though, that many employers actually do any more than provide just the air fare.
