Process to hire a DH

What is the correct process from my perspective? i.e. how can I ensure that I get one that is good with kids? Do you normally get to interview or get to see real testimonials? A friend hired one on the basis of what an agent told her, and lived to regret it...

I have just been through this process. We chose some DH's from this site, phoned them and they came for interview, from there it really comes down to your gut feeling. We interviewed about 8 ladies before signing the 2nd lady we interviewed. She just 'stuck' in our minds as the DH we wanted. It is not an easy process so BEST OF LUCK. Our DH had to return to the Ph before signing with us but at least she had seen the house, met the family and knew exactly what was required in regard to keeping our house in order. Having visited our house and discussed our needs, I felt that there would be no surprises for her upon arrival. It is early days in the contract but so far we are extremely happy with our choice. Of course we did ask for references from previous emloyers. My suggestion is if there are no referrals available for you to read, steer clear. By the way 'available for immediate employment' does not mean they can work for you straight away, there is still a certain amount of time for new contract processing.
