Visa extension

We're trying to hire a lovely helper who finished contract on January 2nd and we want her to start on the January 15th (which is within the 14 days they're allowed to stay in HK after the end of a contract).


She has her Immi Dept interview on the 12th. Should we see any reason why they would say no to the extension of stay and make her leave HK? Would this mean she's have to go back to the Phils and reapply from the beginning or would a day trip to Macau be OK in this situation?


We're moving house on the 31st of Jan and have a 2nd baby due on the 11th of Feb so I really hope this shouldn't be a problem. I can't see why it would be but I just wonder if the Visa guys can sometimes be pricks for no good reason like in other countries.


Anyone able to let me know one way or another?
