OK if I offfer a second term to my helper can anyone tell me what has to be done? It seems I must pay off her currnet contract (holidays etc.) and then start a new contract rather than just carrying on. (my helper has not wanted to take leave as yet). Also is there a deadline that I should be worried about do I need to work months in advance or only within weeks of the contract end?

You will have to renew her contract i.e. make a new contract. I think there is a stipulation that the DH has to leave and reenter HK if starting on a new contact. May not be necessary to go back to her home country but even a short trip anywhere outside of HK would do. Immigration accepts applications for renewal only about a month before the existing contract expires. But check all of the above with Immigration.

Darling, I m not challenging you but as far as I remember, you cannot pay money in cash in lieu of holidays. Say for example, if you asked your helper to work on a public holiday, you have to give her another day off in lieu and you cant just pay her extra money for an extra working day. But your theory is different to what I saw in the ID's information. So the truth is??

True, you can not give money for the 12 statutory holidays (SAR Establishment Day, etc.) , but you can pay for untaken annual leave. This is the same as in any other HK job. In addition if your contract expires or is terminated before holidays are given you must pay the additional amount.
