Just want some perspective on this. Read somewhere that I should find DH that has current responsibilities/apartment similar to our own.
Do you think it's a real problem to hire helper that used to work in an apt double the size of ours? She will be getting own room, just maybe not DH quarters the size of our apt.

Personally, I do not think that it should make any difference as she would know well in advance. New place, new lifestyle , new duties and responsibilities. New everything. It's starting all over again so she has to take what you could provide, or leave it.

Soufflequeen, I like your attitude so much. I've read a few of your posts and find your comments quite refreshing. I've been burnt a little by my past two helpers in 2 1/2 yrs that it's kinda painful to go through the process again. Know I'm lucky compared to some people who have had to change more than twice.
So, if I may ask another question. When interviewing the final selection, I've decided to let the ones that I REALLY like know what happened to my previous two helpers just so that I can give them the opportunity to decide whether they want to work for us. One resigned, the other was terminated. Do you think this is the right road to go down or should I pick the one we like, do the paperwork and then tell her when she's on the job?

PoliteEmployer,
Thank you :) so the " no-show" was fired?
Anyway, I am sure you wanted to know her previous employment history so it is only fair that you tell her your side, as what I am aware of is that, everyone would like to know but is AFRAID to ask for fear of getting across as nosy/fussy. This may seem to be minor but her decision could have a lasting effect. I meant... no finish contract. 2 helpers in 36 months?? ...what's the problem?? ... then she will be aware that being a no-show may end up to termination unless caused by fortuitous event. Give her the complete picture... your and your family's expectations and what the problems were for her not only to see whether she could deal with them but also for her to learn from.
Good luck.

Thank you! Need some luck to find a good one! If I do, I'll hold onto her for dear life for ever and ever! Hehe!
As for "no show", her no show was just one of the last straws.... sigh. Enough said!
