Is it complicated to hire an indonesian DH?

Hi there,

I found an indonesian helper that I would like to hire. I heard you can't hire her directly, you need a mandated agency. Is that true? Does anyone have the name of a reliable agency (and not too expensive)?

And also, the visa of this helper will expire next week (she has a 1 week extension). Let say we sign tomorrow, how does it work (she finished her previous contract)? Can she stay in HK during the process? Does she have to go back to her country until we have the visa? If she can stay, can she live at our place (without working of course)?

Thank you so much for your help.

I hope you see this in time. We used Java Maid in Wan Chai and they were well priced and great. You pay the fee and they do it all for you and you just sign on the line. Our helper had finished contract and started with us after having a few days off in HK as a break (fair enough I say!) Good luck

We hired an Indonesian helper and all of the paperwork was done through her agency. She had to return to Indonesia for 6 weeks until the visa came through. If her visa expires there is no way around this. Good luck.
