You have some time. You can, if you use a good agency, interview ten candidates this Sunday and have one start before the end of May.

I don't know how much a part time costs but I imagine it's not much cheaper than full time. And if you do a lot of the child minding stuff you can have her cook, shop, clean. Which frees you up to spend time with baby.

My wife is quick to point out that one of the nicest thing about having a helper is that it allows you to spend quality time with your kids instead of having to drag them around doing various chores.

8am -2am ? if a part time paid by the hour. I don't see why you would even consider hiring a part time versus a full time.

And anyways, doubt anyone would work 8-2am on a part time basis.

8-2am (18 hours x 4) that's 72 hours..... if you average it back out, that's 12 hours for 6 days. That's MORE than full time isn't it?

at $ 60-$70 an hour..... averages to $ 4800 a month

again, have to remember that you can only hire the "legal" parttimers and as Mum of two says - $60-70 ph will quickly add up to more than a full time salary - plus you will want her to babysit every now and then and come and help you if you have dinner party etc etc - I would say go full time.
