my helper won't be renewing he contract when it expires in Dec. What do I need to do regarding immi? And besides fulfilling her salary payments, is there anything else I need to do for her? eg do I need to provide an airfare back country of origin in the event she doesn't find another position?

Yes you must inform Imm within 7 days, and also pay her travel expences door to door to her place of origin , that includes fare to HK airport, air fare, and any internal flights in her home country, and include a food allowance of 100 hkd per day for the period of travel. Give her any holiday she is due.

There is no redundancy payment, the helper is not being made redundant, the employer is choosing not to renew the contract. All you need to do is to give your helper a months notice that you are not renewing, any holiday/and or pay outstanding, and an airfare or ticket home.

thanks for your replies everyone. It's the helper who does not wish to renew the contract. So I guess we don't have to worry about the redundancy.
