Anyone know of a solid resource for a Filipino to invest in for her child's education?

You could try AIA in Central. Their office there offers Philamlife education plans for Filipinos. PhilamLife is the sister company of AIA in the Philippines. They are both owned by AIG Group.

Unlike other AIA offices wherein the locals are agents, the AIA office in Central has Filipino agents, which makes it easier to communicate with for the helper.

They can contact Filipino agent Ms. Joan at 9190 5546.

iso-no-awabi,

An employer can pay the insurance of the helper, but the insurance will still be under the helpers name.

I actually got a pension plan for my helper, instead of giving her an increase in salary. Helpers usually are not trained to save for their retirement or future, thats why i think its better to give them something for the long term.

AIA's education and pension plan is usually payable for 5 years. you could choose payment options among monthly, quarterly, semi-annualy, annually or even one time payment.

Try contacting the agent i mentioned....She's very helpful and accomodating...

your welcome iso-no-awabi.

it would also be good to pass it along other friends the idea of giving their helpers pension/insurance/education plan instead of giving them a raise. it would greatly help them in the long run, especially if they really consider the helper as part of their family already...
