Hi, I understand that if I want to hire a full time live out helper the only way is to hire someone with PR status. Does anyone has this experience? Where can I look for this kind of helper and how much is the salary will be compared to a live-in helper?

Thanks

i dont think helpers aer allowed PR status and if they are then they wont be helpers anymore. i also think it is now illegal to have live out helpers.

I would have thought that helpers are under working visa, and for foreigners who live in HK for 7 years they are qualified to get the PR status (like other expats), and this should apply to helpers as well, unless the visa for helpers is different from other expats in HK. So if the helper has been working in HK for 7 years, she should qualify for the PR status...Am I wrong?

Our helper has been here for 10 yrs now and no PR status, and I dont think she will ever be able to get it. All other helpers we know have been here more than 7 yrs - no PR either.

Bit of confusion here methinks.

An FDH works here on an FDH visa. This does not allow them to gain PR after 7 years. Completely different to a work visa.

A helper who is a PR is usually a local person. They can be employed by the hour, full time, etc. Depending on what you need them for costs varies. Expect around $50+ an hour. For that place an ad in the local supermarket. Cost for full time can be from $8,000 - $20,000 a month.

I never aware that there is different type of visas between helpers and expats.

Does anyone have experienced employed "local" helper then? Also, has anyone have experienced applied to the Immigration Department for exemption on live in?

Thanks!!
