Daily Rate for Part-time Domestic Helpers?

What kind of daily rate do you normally pay a part-time domestic helper? Someone who comes in in the morning and works through the until the late afternoon/early evening?

One of our full-time helpers is going on leave, and we've found another Indonesian helper whose employer is away at the moment and can come in on a part-time basis to help out for a week or so.

But I'm worried if we offer too generous a daily rate (isn't the normal rate something like HK$50 per hour?), it will lead to problems with our other full-time domestic helper. She be working alongside her and I'm sure will protest if the part-time helper is being paid significantly more than she is on a daily basis.

When you average out the monthly salary for a FDH on the official minimum wage, it only works out at around HK$150 a day. But I'm sure a part-time helper would expect more than that?

Anyone have any experience of what to do in this situation? With one part-time and one full-time helper working alongside each other, and being paid differently?

(And yes, I know you're not supposed to hire part-time helpers but we're hardly the first.)

50-60/hour is for short term assignments (1-3 hours). for a full half day or full day (8 hours) i would think you should get a substantial discount to that (say 25-30/hour). that will then come out in the range of 200-250/8 hours
