We have a wedding in NY in September and I wish to take the helper as I will be travelling alone with a 2 and 3 year old.
Looked at the US consulate site and it seems I have to create another contract with them based on US laws (such as agreeing to pay US domestic helper minimum wage etc) and stating the hours they will work etc.
Wondering what others normally do. Can they just apply for a normal holiday visa and what is the likelyhood of them getting that granted?
Any one with experience in this?

The chance of anyone getting a US tourist visa while they have a HK visa in their passport showing they are a DH here is low.
However, you may - may - be able to get her a B-1 visa, as below, as long as you draw up a US employment contract etc and she meets all the other requirements. Details in this link:

Burgundy is right, I know many people who have tried the same thing, failed everytime.
What they ended up doing is hiring babysitters, professional nannies to watch the kids/babies while they were visiting in USA.

Well I got one visa granted but I was hoping to take my other as we have no relatives in the US and we are really helping out with the wedding. The reason given was that she has not been in HK long enough despite the fact I have just recently renewed her contract. What is annoying is the decision is based soley on the person doing the interviewing rather then by facts. She made a comment to the first helper how strange it was that I needed to have 2 along but she doesn't know all the details. Anyway just wondering if anyone knows whether I can re-apply again nearer the time whan I can come up with a good enough reason.

Mky,
When you say you "got one granted", are you talking about a B-1 visa or a tourist visa? If the latter, I am astonished.

I got one B1 visa. How come they are so full of themselves. How does she know how many domestic helpers I need. Instead of assessing it on the risk of whether are likely to run away and hide in the US they are making decisions very personally. Come on who would want to live there anyway.
