I have very limited knowledge about this. Could someone kindly tell me the following----

1. the ongoing monthly salary for a full-time live-out Filipino OR local driver (6 working days per week; max. 12 hours a day)

2. the holidays he is entitled to?

3. rate for any overtime pay

4. any other discretionary pay/bonus?

5. meal allowance?

6. who should be responsible for damage to the vehicle caused by a collision?

7. any insurance plan (like the one for DH) should be purchased?

Thanks.

What a surprise no one has replied to this thread! I spoke to a friend after I had posted this thread last week and got the info. So I’m going to post it here for others’ reference in future.

Here is what my friend offers her full-time live-out LOCAL driver ----

1. ongoing monthly salary: HK$10,000 – $12,000 (my friend pays $12,000/month)

2. statutory holidays (same as the FDH)

3. to be agreed between the two parties (my friend has not paid any so far)

4. some yearly bonus (verbal promise only)

5. no meal allowance; lunch time is 1 hour BUT the time has to be flexible

6. vehicle accidents: never happened yet (so, to be decided)

7. Yes, insurance plan is needed (it’ll be somewhat more than $1,000/year)

8. hours of work: 12 hours/day; 6 days a week (I think this is max.)

Her driver may be required to work on some Sundays/public holidays. This was pre-agreed before the employment started.

location of work: Mid-level East, HK Island

After reading all the post and the immigration website, it looks to me that it is actually not feasible to legally hire a foreign driver, who lives out. or have your DH perform driving duty that will include driving you to work.

Is there a website for finding local drivers?
