Serving notice period?

We will be firing out helper (of 1 month) in a few days and are wondering whether we should ask her to serve (at least partially) her notice period..... Initially thought of doing so (waste of $$ otherwise....) but some say they could get vengeful and not clean well/damage goods in the flat. What do you guys think? Better to pay her off and let her leave asap?

Just wanted to answer my own thread (in case anybody has the same question in the future..).

We sacked our maid a couple of days ago and Boy are we glad we got her to leave immediately. (paying in lieu + airfare back home) She got totally b1tchy and bitter, even complaining about how 'badly' I'd been treating her to my husband. It was just shocking.

Good to know your experience.

We are considering the same thing...but got had received advice to find a new Helper, then be fair, but be direct with the changes...potentially letting them overlap.

It is not a good idea. The ones I let serve the extra month took things. The two I terminated immediately didn't take anything. But this is only MY experience so it is unfair to generalise.
