Is it true that maids will receive some
bonus or long term service fee after they work 6 years continusly with the same employer?
How about if they work 5 years then get fired?
Any other payment they should receive even though with 1 month notice?

We give our maid a bonus every year... we split it in half between December and CNY.
If she stays with us 5 years, then she must be doing a really good job... so we would have no problem giving her a bonus at 5 years...
She saves us so much money with her inexpesive shopping, excellent cooking and baby sitting services :)
The Long Term Service Pay is for 5 years or more and is equal to 2/3 of a month's wage x the number of years in service.
So if you pay her 4,000 a month
2/3 is 2640
x 5 years
13,200
It sounds like a lot, but if you average it out it is HKD 220 per month for 5 years of service.
If you are giving her severence pay, then there is no need to pay Long Term Service Pay as well.
Severence pay is the same formula so he amount is the same - you just don't have to pay both - one of the other.

I've interviewed a few helpers who had their contracts not renewed after the fourth year, and they weren't bad helpers as far as I could tell.

You only have to pay the long service pay once I think, when they leave your employment, and the amount depends on how many years they've worked for you.
